He’ll randomly appear when you’re gossiping with your best friends—except maybe it’s not so random at all.

The HE in the sentence refers to Toby Cavanaugh, stepbrother of the vision-impaired Jenna from Pretty Little Liars' second book Flawless. He is being described as someone who happens to appear somewhere out there, as if he is stalking the four girls that made his life hellish...

Ingo

Title: Ingo
Author: Helen Dunmore
Hardcover, 336 pages
Published August 2006

Summary from Goodreads:
Sapphire's father mysteriously vanishes into the waves off the Cornwall coast where her family has always lived. She misses him terribly, and she longs to hear his spellbinding tales about the Mer, who live in the underwater kingdom of Ingo. Perhaps that is why she imagines herself being pulled like a magnet toward the sea. But when her brother, Conor, starts disappearing for hours on end, Sapphy starts to believe she might not be the only one who hears the call of the ocean.

Ingo follows the life and secrets revolving around a girl named Sapphire and her love for the sea. Her dad is mysteriously named after the man who was believed to have drowned and captured by mermaids. This same fate befell her dad. Her brother Connor also went missing for a certain period of time and eventually, the two of them got pulled by the water and discovered a world beyond the beach. A place called Ingo, powerful and mysterious.

There, they met a couple of mermaids and realized that the time spent underwater differed from their time above the earth. Sapphire and Connor also discovered their own earthly powers that saved them in the end.

Mermaid stories are really interesting. While Arielle remained the best mermaid I've ever met, I think Ingo's mermaids are somewhat okay, if not intimidating. The story may not be the best underwater story ever but it is cute nonetheless; clean enough for kids. Part one of a trilogy. I'm excited to read the rest of the series, because I want to know more about Sapphire's mom's fear of the ocean. Hmmm..

My rating for Ingo: 4 bookmarks!

I heard gunshots coming from the lobby and ran downstairs to check on my dad. By the time I got there, he was just calmly zipping up his workbag while three unconscious gunmen hung by their feet from the chandelier, their robes falling over their heads so you could see their boxer shorts.
Dad claimed not to have witnessed anything, and in the end, the police blamed a freak chandelier malfunction.

For this week, my book of choice is Devil Who Tamed Her by Johanna Lindsey. And here's my third sentence.

It was her bane to be so beautiful that people behaved like utter fools around her.

The lady, Ophelia Reid is actually a debutante on this book and she was utterly gorgeous which had been long-time dream because before she was a nobody.

He heard the bitterness that crept into her tone, and it wasn't the first time he'd heard it when her father was mentioned. Apparently, she didn't like her father very much.
But then the Earl of Durwich couldn't have much love for her either, having tried to shove her into a marriage she obviously didn‟t want.

I have had no thought other than this: Stay alive.
And to have had only that thought, each day, was
heaven.

MondayMusings

Another Monday, yipee!! Joining Musing Mondays from MizB of Should Be Reading.. This week’s musing asks…

What book(s) are you most excited about right now? (it can either be something you’re currently reading, or something you just bought, or a book/books that are soon to be published).

I'm actually eager to read Sophie Jordan's second installmen of her Firelight trilogy.. VANISH..

According to the preview on Goodreads.com; this time around, Jacinda, the fire-breathing draki takes a few notch and goes back to her roots, even though she wasn't that welcome anymore. I'm excited to know more about this. I liked the first book actually. I learrned a lot about dragons, draki etc.. and Jacinda & Will seemed so fit for each other. I can't wait to read this next book.. September 6th is still a looonnggg way to go!!!

Would forbidden love burns brighter than ever??
