TT: City of Bones

It's Tuesday! Hooray for another day!

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

Grab your current read.
Open to a random page.
Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page.

BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!)

Share the title and author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Here's my teaser for today.

It was Alec who spoke first. "What's this?" he demanded, looking from Clary to his companions, as if they might know what she was doing there.
"It's a girl," Jace said, recovering his composure. "Surely you've seen girls before, Alec. Your sister Isabelle is one."

Yes, I am re-reading City of Bones in anticipation of its upcoming movie release (on August 21). I am just so excited to see the movie!

So tell me, what's your teaser for today? :)

Here's mine for this week:

That is all I remember when I wake each morning before dawn, gasping and covered in perspiration, more tired than when I went to bed. They are only dreams. Then why do they leave me feeling so troubled?

Tuesday Teasers - July

It's the first Tuesday of the month of July. Time flies so fast! Where have all the months gone?

Today, I am joining a new Tuesday meme aside from Teaser Tuesdays. It's called First Chapter, First Paragraph Intros hosted by Bibliophile by The Sea. You just have to share the first paragraph from the first chapter of the book you are reading.

For my other meme, Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish game, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Here now is my Tuesday Teaser and First Paragraph Intro this week:

Sprinting headlong toward the glowing crack that emerged out of thin air, I willed my spindly legs to go faster. The muscles in my legs cramped and burned, my lungs screamed for more air. Two changelings were behind me, their feet pounding the barren and dusty ground of Neamar. They kept my pace with ease. Feeling their ragged breath on my neck sent shivers up my spine like cockroaches skittering from the light would. I hurled myself forward.

First paragraph from: Traitor (Bridger Book 2) By Megan Curd

What do you think? Was your interest piqued? Mine certainly was, because this is the part where the female main character is either going to charge or retreat back.

Share yours too!

Here's my teaser for this week:
Yet still, I write this confession to you, my own wife, the one soul destined to wring something from naught. If I succeed in correcting what I have done, then I shall burn this missive and you will never know my sorry secret. If you are reading these words, then 'tis because I have failed.

P.S.
I really like the cover of this book. The lady looks elegant but there is mischief in her eyes! I wish I had read the first three books before this edition. I am sure this is going to be an epic book from Ms Delacroix.. :)

So here's my sinful teaser:

My caretaker, a man who never looked older than twenty, Olexander, tried to explain to me then why the people stayed so far away from us.
"Liliana, my dear, they are scared of you because you know their secrets. Nothing terrifies a human being more than the possibility of being found out."

As I speed-walked toward my locker, a football whooshed across the hall, barely missing my shoulder. Again? I glared at the boy who had chucked it to his friend. He laughed and said, "Whoops!"

The girl came out of the barn. She had dark hair like the hippie woman, so he figured it had to be Lil. She wore jeans rolled up at the cuffs, and high-top sneakers, and a red baseball cap over the hair done in two long braids.
She looked scruffy and stupid, and he immediately disliked her.

I realize too late that people's definition of "early" on a Sunday morning differ wildly. Ten o'clock was my guess for how early I would need to be ready for Roman's birthday surprise. It turns out that he meant more like six o'clock!!

Here's my share for this week. I hope I'm not yet too late.

I reached for the handle, eager to get the heck out so I could track him down and really let him have it. And I’d almost succeeded, when someone called out from behind me and I turned, scowl planted firmly in place, dreading even a moment’s delay, only to find myself face-to-face with what I assumed to be an angel.
An incredibly beautiful, glittering angel.

For this week, actually I'm reading an anthology book. It's a collection of short stories authored by some of famous Irish novelists - Maeve Binchy, Marian Keyes & Cathy Kelly, et al. The book is called "Irish Girls About Town".

Here's a teaser from one of the short stories:

There was a note on the door.
Waited until half past. Understand that you mightn't have wanted to see me. If you were mine, I wouldn't want to let you our of my sight. Best wishes, Dave.
What a sweetie.

Here's mine. Kinda long actually.. But a sure intriguing tease...

"Are you going to tell me what this is all about? "
Alix narrowed her lips, "No."
"We're roommates Alix. You can trust me."
"Sure I can," she snarled. "Just like I could trust you to tell the truth to the cops." She wasn't letting Laurel forget that she'd taken the fall for her.

"All right," Laurel snapped and held up both hands. "Have it your way".
That was exactly what Alix intended.

But a lot of things had to happen before I married Andy and after that letter from Margot arrived in the mail. A lot of things.

And one of them was Leo. The one I would love before I loved Andy. The one I would grow to hate, but still love, long after we broke up. The one I would finally, finally get over..
