My Musing for today is about my monthly reading habit. If last month, it was all about Angels and Demons, this month, I am going to read Steampunks, Sci-Fis and Suspense Thrillers. OOhhhh.. this is gonna be a thrilling and exciting month!

Hmmm. This week, my muse is actually more of a ramble or question: Do you remember the very first book that you have ever read or purchased? Think about it.


I don't have to scan my brain to search for my earliest childhood memory because I clearly remember it, as bright as the day. The first ever book I have read was Cinderella by the Brothers Grimm.

Looking back, when I was in first grade, I remember going to our school library during vacant periods. Then I would immediately go to the Fairytales section and get the large Brothers Grimm edition and read all the magical stories.

But it was Cinderella’s story that captured my attention. Everyday, I imagined about Ella of the Cinders and her Prince Charming. I never get tired of her and her evil stepmothers and stepsisters, even until today. I guess that is the reason I have always preferred Fairytale retellings because of the giddy feeling or good vibes that it gives me.

Here's my musing this week: There's this one book I have been desperate and been wanting to get my hands on. It's the third book of the Divergent series - Allegiant - by Veronica Roth.

 

I learned that the book is expected to be released on November, and that's three more months of waiting! Yay! I would really like to know what happens to Tris and Four and how would the factions survive... I am equally intrigued by the following teaser questions:

What if your whole world was a lie? What if a single revelation—like a single choice—changed everything? What if love and loyalty made you do things you never expected?

Anyway, this book trilogy is already being made into a movie and will soon be shown early next year. Okay, that's more than 5 months to go.. Hmm.. So, I'd rather wait for the third book, at least until November! Yippee!!

My Musing for today is about my reading habit.

As you all know, I have a habit of reading books with a theme for every month. Last month, July, is the second part or second half of the year, so I read Sequels or the second books of a trilogy.. This week, or should I say, this month of August is all about Angels and Demons!

Yes, I have already arranged my shelves to make sure that I am gonna read books that have angels and demons on them. I am all about Angels, their origins, their kinds, their love lives. Next, I'd love to know more about their counterparts, too. The Demons. The Black angels. The Evil monsters. Here are my upcoming Books-To-Read this month:

For this week-opener, I am reading the very controversial crime novel, The Cuckoo's Calling.. Yes, everybody has been talking about this, and I'm one of those nosey and curious bookworm, so I got it for Kendra (my Kindle).

A brilliant debut mystery in a classic vein: Detective Cormoran Strike investigates a supermodel's suicide. You may think you know detectives, but you've never met one quite like Strike. You may think you know about the wealthy and famous, but you've never seen them under an investigation like this.

 The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith, who turned out to be JK Rowling.

This week I am musing about: what I’m currently reading:

Since it's the Wedding Season, I already piled my To-B-Reads with stories that have wedding themes. So far, I've finished, Married by Mistake by Abby Gaines and "Always the Last To Know" by Crystal Bowling.


Today, I am reading: Dee Tenorio's A Wedding Story

Ruth Anne Barbellis—unhappily nicknamed "Rhubarb" by her lifelong enemy, Bobby Wichowski—is in Wedding Hell. Why?
Her sister is marrying Bobby's brother.
She's trussed up in a bridesmaid dress that must have been designed originally as a Victorian Torture Chamber.
To teach them a lesson, she and Bobby have been assigned to the Kiddie Table.
And that's only the beginning...

 Today, my musing is about the "one of my reading habits" I usually read e-books on my Kindle, (which I call Kendra by the way) from Mondays to Fridays. Sometimes, I can finish up to 3 ebooks per week; depends on the length of the book. But I always make sure that I finish them until Friday night.

Why? Because when Saturday comes, I see to it that Kendra gets her much needed sleep.

Instead of continuously perusing her, I attack my bookshelf and read the first that my hand would touch. That way, my paperbacks and hardbounds won't feel neglected at all.

Truth is, when I got my Kindle a year ago, I  absentmindedly but unintentionally abandoned my books, in favor of Kendra. I actually forgot about them for about two months.

My oh my. That is something I will never do again. I love books. Both the digital kind and the paperback/hardbounds. I think my world is a better place because I have my books, family and friends.

I have more reading habits to share, but this is it for now. How about you? What's your habit? .

Alright, my musing this Monday is about the “book you are currently desperate to get your hands on”

In my case, I am desperate to have a copy of the newly released Cassidy Jones and the Seventh Attendant (Cassidy Jones Adventures, Book 3) by the incomparable Elise Stokes.

When the mysterious Gavin Phillips returns to Seattle after a prolonged and unexplained absence, he threatens to expose fifteen-year-old Cassidy Jones’s incredible secret: she is a superhero. But his presence is far more sinister than she realizes, for it soon becomes apparent that his hidden agenda holds a dark and dangerous intent that will unleash an unparalleled evil upon an unsuspecting world. Can Cassidy stop him before all is lost?

I enjoyed the first two books of Cassidy Jones. She had flaming red hair and newly acquired super powers PLUS a good-looking super genius sidekick named Emery. Together, they are a force to be reckoned with. SO I can’t wait till I get my hands on The Seventh Attendant. I hope to get this book next week. Yay!

Well, here ARE my musings for this week:

READING HABIT - Theme Reading:

One of my reading habits is, (as much as possible!)  to make sure that there is a theme that I follow every month when reading a book.

Like last January, the books I've read were Bestsellers Series. So I completed the Iron Fey series (Iron King, Iron Daughter, Iron Queen, Iron Knight) including the mini novellas, (Winter's Passage and Summer's Crossing).

Then in February, it being a love month, I've read books that make your heart go a-flutter. No paranormal stuffs. Just good old contemporary love stories - straight from the heart.

And now in March - it's all about the Supernaturals - Vampires, Werewolves, Dragons, Witches, Ghosts, Mermaids, Shapeshifters and the like. Paranormal stuffs.. and I have a whole lot of shelves of these kind. I think I'm gonna read Paranormals until April so I can fully devour these creatures.. Rawrrr!

WHAT AM I CURRENTLY READING? 

I'm actually busy with two books right now. The first one is  Jessica Fortunato's THE SIN COLLECTOR.  It follows the life of Liliana, a born Sin Collector. She has spent over 100 years absorbing people's sins so they may rest in peace come death.  Sounds interesting, right? You bet it is!

The other book I'm reading is: CLOCKWORK ANGEL by none other than Cassandra Clare. This is book 1 from the Infernal Devices series, a spin-off of the soon-to-be shown movie, The Mortal Instruments. Together, let's discover the world of Downworlders who have the rare ability to transform, at will, into another person.

Currently Reading: INTO YOU by Riley J. Ford. I'm still on Chapter 6..

But so far, I'm liking the story! The protagonist, Winter, is able to read the minds of the boys... But only while she's kissing them. Cool! I would love to try it, hahaha. I wonder how many guys would Winter kiss by the end of the book.. ^_~

Here's my musing for this week.

I am currently reading two books, Carpe DiEmily and the other one is The Burning of Isobel Key.


So far, I am enjoying both books. Carpe DiEmily is a fun read! I can't help but smile and sometimes roll my eyes at Emily Keane because she is sooo naive and innocent. I'm still halfway through the book and I can't wait what'll happen next.

The Burning of Isobel Key is also intriguing. I admit, the first time I heard about this, it instantly reminded me of this one episode on Smallville where Lana Lang was possesed by the witch Isobel Thoreaux who died when the village people burned her on a pole. I thought the book has something to do with that episode. But after reading the first few chapters, it was a completely different story and I like it so much.

Hopefully, I'll get to finish both books at the end of today. ;)
